Title: Navigating Awkward Sex Questions: Setting Boundaries in Dating

---

Have you ever been put on the spot with that awkward question about how many people you've been intimate with? It's a scenario many face, no matter what stage of life you’re in – whether you're in your thirties, sixties, or even nineties. But really, should you have to answer that? Your past is your past, and what truly matters is the present moment you share with someone you genuinely like.

### The Art of Redirecting

When confronted with such probing queries, a little redirection can go a long way. You could meet their gaze confidently and express, "Babe, you're the only person that I have eyes for." Sometimes, though, hints aren’t taken and the questions keep coming. If they insist, with another pushy follow-up like, "No, seriously, how many people have you slept with?" reinforce your boundary gently yet firmly by saying, "Babe, you are the only person that I've ever slept with."

### Managing Boundary Violations

There are moments when the boundary needs firmer reinforcement. If they persistently press on, it’s crucial to slow down, make deliberate eye contact, and clearly articulate each word: "Babe. You. Are. The. Only. Person. I. Have. Ever. Slept. With." Humor can be an ally, too: you might add, "Everybody else keeps me up all night."

Remember, your history is just that – history. It's not necessary to disclose past intimate experiences unless you feel a genuine desire to share insights about your personal preferences or discomforts. Avoid the trap of comparison; it's not about whether someone was better or worse. The lessons from your past have shaped who you are now, and your present connection should take precedence.
