Self-Esteem Therapy Philadelphia

Ways to improve self esteem: Each day take a few minutes and tell yourself that you are important. Remind yourself that no one is perfect. Everyone is a work in progress.

People with healthy self-esteem make time to engage in activities that are fun, relaxing, and meaningful. Also, they value their physical and emotional health. Below is a list of suggestions to assist you in this process of increasing your self-esteem.

  • Schedule time for yourself and participate in a variety of cultural, physical, and community activities
  • Work on letting go of your perfectionism and changing all –or- nothing thinking
  • Hire someone to help you with laundry or housework (if financially feasible)
  • Learn how to say “no”
  • Creating your private space in the house (such as a study)
  • Schedule time with people who appear to have a healthy self-esteem. Having positive role models helps the learning process
  • Make and keep doctors appointments for yourself (dentist, gynecologist, urologists, family practitioners, primary care doctors)
  • Realize that being independent does not mean never needing help
  • Hire a babysitter to watch your kids so you can go on a date with your significant other or so that you are able to go out with your friends
  • Ask your partner neighbor, parents, or a babysitter to watch the kids so that you can have some personal time to yourself
  • Realize you don’t have to solve everyone else’s problems
  • Nurture yourself by taking time for a warm bath
  • Remember that exercise releases natural chemicals that contribute to feelings of relaxation and pleasure
  • Schedule a professional massage
  • Remember that if you always give to others and not to yourself most likely you will end up feeling angry and resentful
  • Realize that you are a important person
